Our Story

Why We Formed

The grassroots organization Williamson County Equestrians for Shared Greenways (WCESG) was formed by equestrians to maintain horse culture and places to ride in Williamson County. Equestrians noticed they were losing the farmland and rural roads they relied on for riding because of new developments, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to find local riding areas. To preserve riding areas, our organization contacted our county leaders to help resolve this problem.

Thanks to our supporters, WCESG successfully incorporated horse trails into the Triune Special Area Plan and the Williamson County Greenway Master Plan, alongside pedestrian and bike trails. Williamson County Parks and Rec are also actively looking for parks to include horse trails.

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist the various government and private agencies in the establishment, maintenance, and management of safe equestrian trails in Williamson County public parks and greenways to preserve the culture of horses and rural life.
